Climate change is one of the most significant public health threats of the 21st century. This event will explore how localization and multi-level cooperation are key to address the impacts of climate change on health and to achieve the objectives of the Global Action Plan on Climate Change and Health.
2 June marks the 5th edition of Heat Action Day (HAD), a global day of action and awareness on extreme heat. In 2026, HAD’s theme is indoor heat. The event will mark Heat Action Day by highlighting best practices and scalable initiatives that can be replicated by local and regional governments around the world. Together, we can #BeatTheHeat.

The Global Cities Hub is at the forefront of linking LRGs and international organizations to address the most pressing challenges faced by urban centers worldwide. Engaged in a diverse array of initiatives, GCH fosters collaboration among cities, mayors and city networks to strengthen inclusive multilateralism in the Geneva ecosystem, including the United Nations. Our work spans critical areas including environment and climate change, smart city development, protection of human rights, and promotion of urban health. By facilitating knowledge exchange and joint action, we aim to create sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban environments for all.

Global Cities Hub contributes to Bologna II Roundtable on LRGs in the UPR
The GCH participated in the 2nd Bologna Expert Roundtable to advance discussions on the role of sub-national authorities in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). It addressed a central policy question: how to systematically integrate LRGs into the UPR cycle through localized data, digital tools and structured multi-level governance.- 23 April 2026

SDG Localization and Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs): what comes after the 1st VLR?
The Global Cities Hub, in partnership with UN-Habitat and UNECE, organised an event on the margins of the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (RFSD) in the UNECE region to discuss the critical question of what comes after a first Voluntary Local Review (VLR). The discussion underscored the importance of ensuring VLRs are continuous, inclusive, and action-oriented processes.- 22 April 2026
